House of Flavour

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

It was wet and miserable yesterday and not wanting to be caught out by flooding rivers again, I took off to George to pick up the lap top that was getting connected. Our car which is also run by microchips and occasional beeps needed some of attention as well so I thought I would make the best of a drizzly overcast day.Our last stop was coffee at the House of Flavour. I don’t know what it is about George but the coffee always tastes better. We sat in front of the log fire and I ordered a meat and vegetable soup which came with ciabata (sp) bread and a side order of cheese croquettes. Jono had ice cream and chocolate sauce, but complained about the sprinkle of nuts (must remember that one) and ate most of my soup. The coffee is good, the service is good and their soup is a whole lot better on a rainy day in front of the fire.

This is currently one of my favourite coffee shops. Another regular stop on the way home was takeaway hake and chips from Mr Khai in Sedgefield.

Vida-E-Cafe, Knysna Mall

Vida E Cafe, at the Knysna Mall, serves delicious & strong coffee for the connisseur, finished with a dark chocolate freebie – which i always slip into my coffee as a treat. Their service is consistently good with bubbly men who are more than grateful when one leaves a tip. VidaCafe, as most people call the coffee shop, is a franchise store in RSA and I am very glad that they have decided to pitch a home in Knysna to offer that international & local flair to coffee shops.
